in ArticlesPlasma steroid-binding proteins: primary gatekeepers of steroid hormone action.
Abstract
Biologically active steroids are transported in the blood by albumin, sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG), and corticosteroid-binding globulin (CBG). These plasma proteins also regulate the non-protein-bound or 'free' fractions of circulating steroid hormones that are considered to be biologically active; as such, they can be viewed as the 'primary gatekeepers of steroid action'. Albumin binds steroids with limited specificity and low affinity, but its high concentration... -

Doping hunters from the German Sport University Cologne are developing a completely new type of doping test. The new test does not require sweat, blood, urine, hair or mouth swabs, but will enable doping hunters to detect the use of anabolic steroids and other banned substances by analyzing the breath of athletes. The anabolic effect of GSK20881078: human studyBy: Ergo-Log
In January 2018 we wrote about the SARM GSK20881078, which researchers at GlaxoSmithKline are now testing on humans. Doping hunters keep a close eye on GSK20881078, and have already developed a test for it. [Eur J Mass Spectrom (Chichester). 2018 Feb;24(1):145-56.] The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism will soon... -
