    Test for doping with YK11

About five years ago YK11 came on the market: a steroid-like substance developed by Japanese scientists with an anabolic effect. YK11 is a SARM, but also a myostatin inhibitor. It became popular as a research chemical and 'rogue supplement'. German doping hunters from the German Sport University Cologne have developed a doping test for this curious substance.

    Abstract

Concern has arisen regarding the presence and persistence of trenbolone in the environment. Trenbolone acetate is an anabolic steroid used to promote growth in beef cattle. It is hydrolyzed to the active compound, 17beta-trenbolone (TB), which is also one of the metabolites...

Plasma steroid-binding proteins: primary gatekeepers of steroid hormone action.

    Abstract

Biologically active steroids are transported in the blood by albumin, sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG), and corticosteroid-binding globulin (CBG). These plasma proteins also regulate the non-protein-bound or 'free' fractions of circulating steroid hormones that are considered to be biologically active; as such, they can be viewed as the 'primary gatekeepers of steroid action'. Albumin binds steroids with limited specificity and low affinity, but its high concentration...

7 Richest Bodybuilders In The World

Though most of us have a hard time getting up from the couch and going to the gym, the people on this list have shown maximum commitment to their goals and made it to the top. They’ve had their fair share of sacrifices, but they’ve also enjoyed the wealth and social benefits that come with making it big in the bodybuilding world and beyond. Half ex steroids users are hypogonadal

Steroids users will have caused lasting damage to their hormone balance after a couple of years, we wrote recently. That post was based on a Danish study that was recently published in PLoS One. A year before, researchers at Harvard Medical School published a similar study. While it's not as solid as the Danish study, the results are just as unpleasant. According to the Harvardians, half of all ex steroids users never recover their hormone balance.

The increased mortality risk of the average steroid user

How deadly are steroids exactly? We already had research among elite-powerlifters [Int J Sports Med. 2000 Apr;21(3):225-7.] and a study among steroid users [Drug Alcohol Depend. 2015 Jul 1;152:87-92.] who had come into contact with the law, and both studies came up with some disturbing conclusions. However, those studies may not tell us much of the risks the average steroid user faces. Henrik Horwitz of the University of Copenhagen...

Birth control for men: researchers test a male contraceptive gel

One question the researchers hope to answer: Will men like it and will they use it?

    Nov. 28, 2018 / 4:19 PM EST

    By Maggie Fox

The National Institutes of Health is looking for a few good men —and a few brave women — to try out a new birth control gel for males.

The gel, rubbed into the shoulders daily, gradually brings down sperm counts so that men cannot make a woman pregnant. The National Institute of Child Health and Human Development

FDA finds traces of heavy metals in kratom products

The FDA has been clamping down on the substance, which advocates say help ease pain and reduce symptoms of opioid withdrawal, but which the agency says has similar effects to narcotics such as opioids and has resulted in dozens of deaths. (AP)

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said on Tuesday it had found high levels of heavy metals such as lead and nickel in some kratom products, following field investigations.

It's coming: a breathalyzer for anabolic steroids

Doping hunters from the German Sport University Cologne are developing a completely new type of doping test. The new test does not require sweat, blood, urine, hair or mouth swabs, but will enable doping hunters to detect the use of anabolic steroids and other banned substances by analyzing the breath of athletes.
